Justice League of America #27 May 1964 In a Nutshell The JLA kill an ultra-galactic being. On purpose.  This one deserves a bit of explanation. A unique, sentient, ageless entity that calls itself “I” has discovered that every time the Justice League successfully complete a mission, it loses part of its life force. If they succeed in just one more case, it will die. To preserve its own life, I robs the League of their ability to function well as a team. They can still continue their solo careers; they just won’t be able to team up anymore. Concluding that their super-hero social club is more important than the life of a cosmic entity, the JLA reactivate Amazo, which successfully kills I. And that's it. They make no effort to cure I of his affliction. Their one and only plan is to kill it dead. Justice League of America #26 March 1964 In a Nutshell Despero is back and looking for revenge. He’s not particularly good at focusing his revenge, so he creates three alternate Earths to get revenge on. The Justice League overcome three fake Desperos on these created worlds, then defeat the original by knowing their own backstories. Roll Call Snapper Carr calls in the team this issue after being artificially aged by Despero. Wonder Woman , Green Arrow and the Atom succumb to a trap and are likewise aged, which keeps them out of the first mission in the story. Aquaman , Batman , the Flash , the Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern seek the cause of their teammates’ aging, and are transported to three duplicate Earths Despero has created. The Flash helps a race of intelligent dinosaurs defeat their version of Despero. Green Lantern and Batman do the same for a race of intelligent insects.
