Justice League of America #66 November 1968 In a Nutshell Generalissimo Demmy Gog has stolen a machine can affect morale. This is not enough to defeat actual super-powers. This story is the first from Denny O’Neill, and it is also the first to explore the question of what kinds of threats the Justice League should be combating. While the more powerful team members balk at the notion of investigating a simple case of theft, Green Arrow and Batman insist that any injustice falls within their jurisdiction. Roll Call Snapper Carr recruits the team to investigate the theft of his professor’s morale machine. Green Arrow , Batman and the Atom volunteer to pursue the case immediately. Superman , Wonder Woman and Green Lantern only become involved when the device threatens them directly. Ultimately, all of the assembled team members do contribute to Demmy Gog’s defeat. The Stormy Return of the Red Tornado!

Justice League of America #64 & 65 August & September 1968 In a Nutshell In this two-part JLA/JSA crossover, T.O. Morrow has created the android Red Tornado to infiltrate the Justice Society. After the android inadvertently causes the JSA’s defeat, Morrow travels to Earth-1 to exact revenge on the JLA. Red Tornado saves the day by figuring out how to bridge the gulf between worlds under his own power. This story represents the end of Gardner Fox’s initial run. He will be back for occasional fill-in issues, but will no longer be the series’ primary writer. Roll Call As has become typical of these crossover events, no Justice League members appear in the first half of the story. Most of the team appears in the second issue, but are summarily defeated by Morrow’s creations. Most of the Justice Society also participates, but are all defeated by Morrow’s plan. Red Tornado single handedly saves the day in the end, while  Hawkman , Wonder Woman , the Atom , Aquaman and Snapper C...
