Battle Against the Bodiless Uniforms!
Justice League of America #35
May 1965
In a Nutshell
Abnegazar, Rath and Ghast have a plan to escape their imprisonment that involves summoning the empty uniforms of the Justice League, which have been imbued with magical energy by their prior contact with the demons’ enchanted bell, wheel and jar. Anticipating such an obvious ploy, the JLA put a preemptive do-over whammy on the artifacts.
Roll Call
This is one of those stories where the heroes do a lot, but none of it matters. Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman successfully battle magical duplicates of their past villains, and likewise defeat the villains’ enchanted costumes. But all of this was just a ploy by the Demons Three to escape their confinement and trap the League in their place.
But the ploy itself is instantly undone by a prior failsafe command Green Lantern had placed on the demon’s artifacts.
So realistically, Green Lantern is the only one who did anything useful this month, and is the only one getting contribution credit.
The Scorecard
Green Lantern extends his contribution lead to seven points with this issue. Hawkman’s absence means that, for the first time, no League member has either a perfect attendance score or perfect cover appearances.
